- Lagos wary of fake Ebola test kit marketers

Lagos - The Lagos State Government has cautioned residents to be wary of some unscrupulous people who are marketing the so-called Ebola Cassette Test Kit.
Special Adviser on Media to Governor Babatunde Fashola, Hakeem Bello said the fake items which were branded as “Rapid Response Canada,” whioch marketers claimed made tests available in ten minutes were a hoax.
According Bello said there were no Ebola test kits manufactured anywhere in the world and the technique for its manufacture did not exist yet.
He warned members of the public not to patronize the dubious marketers of the product.
The Ebola Virus Disease which is currently ravaging numerous West Africa Countries has recorded more than 1 500 deaths, thus raising alarm among some locals.
In Nigeria, at least five persons have died of the disease with the latest casualty being a doctor who attended to the index case, Patrick Sawyer, in Lagos.
Numerous measures have been put in place to check the spread, including debunking rumours about the disease and educating members of the public on the prevention of the disease.
